The Garone Story

My lifelong obsession with fishing began with my grandfather, John Garone, fishing for snappers and fluke out on Long Island as a little boy. A lifelong pursuit of anything that swam began in which I traveled up and down the East Coast from New Hampshire to Maryland- and now all the way to Florida. Rod building would become a natural offshoot of my fishing obsession.

My first custom rod was built in the lounge of my college dorm 18 years ago. What started out as a hobby quickly became another obsession. I worked with every variable to make a better rod; experimenting with different components, grip shapes, guide layouts, build principles, and even trimmed blanks.

The result is what you see today- with over 20 years on the water and countless hours in the shop, I’ve been blessed to become one of the most highly respected custom rod artists in the world.

Its been one hell of a ride and I’m so thankful for my awesome mentors and loyal customers.
